Installing The Extension
The Joomla Template kit 3.X for Joomla 1.5
Steps to setup
Please unzip the files downloaded from our site.
Make sure that you have the latest Adobe extension manager installed. You can download a copy at http://www.adobe.com/exchange/em_download/ Also make sure that quit out of Dreamweaver before installing the extension!
Look from the M65JTK3.X.zip unzip it. Go to the location where you un-zip utility created the folder. Then double click it the *.mxp file.
Install the extension This will open the DW extension manager. Agree to the license agreement click "Accept" this will install the extension.

Configuring the Extension Start Dreamweaver. Look for the top menus > Windows > and choose "Joomla Template Kit 3.X" and select it.
Two floating windows tabs should pop up which are floating panels.
1. JTK 3.X Settings.

2. JTK Tools 3.X

Floating panels are JTK 3.X Settings and the JTK Tools 3.X is easier to group these together. Or with other floating panels I personally like to group them with the CSS panel.

Right hand side there is an icon.

Once you have grouped the floating tabs.
Setup your designer profile Select the JTK 3.X setting tab

Look for the "Setup Profile" button Click it. A window will pop up.
Please add your information without any special characters like HTML tags or names starting with a number. Click update profile to save.
Now a slower systems you may see window a pop up. This will open and close do not try to stop it.
File system mapping and setup. No matter what you need to have a copy of your Joomla templates on your local machine when working with Dreamweaver, Joomla and The Joomla Template kit. There are two main ways to setup your Joomla Template kit environment to design Joomla templates.
Joomla setups 1. Having a local web server on your system with Joomla installed.
2. A remote web server on another computer with Joomla installed.
Everyone has different ways of keeping there site or sites or clients in order on their computer.
At the end of the day this is what needs to happen.
Dreamweaver needs a local "master copy" of the template or templates your designing. Windows example: C:Documents and Settingsyour nameMy Documentsjoomla15 templates*".
Joomla itself needs to have the template or templates inside its template folder in order to see some of the output when designing templates for it. example: "Joomla_root/templates/*".
So once changes are made to the "master copy" template files need to be transferred to the Joomla instillation template folder. for each change made.
This can be done by Dreamweaver's Site Manager "Remote info" Access pull down. Via FTP and Local/Network etc. Dreamweaver also has settings to do the transfers automatically.
Dreamweaver Site Manager Top menu > sites
Depending on your setup there are two views 1. Basic 2. Advanced
Select the Advanced Tab:

Local Info: Site name: Whatever you like Local root folder: The location where you will be storing your "master copy" templates. Please note: That the JTK 3.X can work with more the one template at a time. You can have multiple templates inside one location just like the Joomla template directory in fact it should be a mirror copy.

Refresh local file automatically : Checked Default images folder: leave it blank. Links relative to: choose "Document" HTTP address: if you have a local web server then enter the address. To your Joomla install. Case-sensitive links: unchecked Cache Enable: unchecked "This key not get errors with with the extension. "
Next click on the Remote info text to configure the settings.
Remote info: Access: Pull down menu None FTP Local/Network
The Access: Pull down menu gives you choices of how to setup the transfer of "Master copy" template files to a local or remote server. If you have a local web server with Joomla installed choose "local/Network" on the Access: Pull down menu. Else if you have a remote web server with Joomla installed choose "ftp" on the Access: Pull down menu.
Remote folder: no matter the type of server setup you need to map inside your Joomla templates folder "Joomla_root/templates/" Refresh remote files list automatically: checked Maintain synchronization information: checked Automatically upload files to server on save: checked Enable file check in and check out : unchecked

Once this is done click ok. You're ready to start designing Joomla Templates with the Joomla Template Kit. You could just click the" Make Base Template Button" to start making templates at this point but there's a lot more to learn.
