That is the advice that Tim Tebow’s coaches gave him. It’s no secret that he is learning the quarterback position. He has a great arm but it’s definitely a unique throwing style that is being criticized… can it really make it in the NFL.

But Tebows coaches realize something important. He is only going to learn to be great by just pulling the trigger. You hear the announcers say it a million times during the game.

Listen for it this weekend when he goes up against Brady and the Patriots.

Hesitating, thinking too much, trying to be perfect all lead to unnatural movements that cause more error than just pulling the trigger and fixing it as you go.

In Your Online Business, Pull The D@#% Trigger!

Are you hesitating with your online business or your affiliate website? If you’re like most people who come into this space, you sure are.

You build a website, but rather than market it, you continually try to make it look better. You also keep buying courses because you tell yourself that you need to be fully prepared so when you do market your website, it will go perfectly.

But It Won’t Go Perfectly No Matter How Much You Prepare

It’s actually kind of infuriating. I remember when I was getting my first really successful website going, I was making the same mistakes I learned about in the courses.

I figured, “Heck, if I read about these, why am I still making them?”

It’s because nothing is truly internalized until you do it for real… until you pull the trigger.

How Can You Pull The Trigger Right Now?

Look at your current website that you are working on. If you have a dozen or so websites, pick the one that is doing the best.

Next, sit down and think what are five things you can do each day, that have to do with actually marketing your website?

This could be building links, doing PPC, actively contacting so many new people a day, whatever…

Then commit for only one month to doing those things. Pull the #@%&$ Trigger!

When you are building an Internet business, it’s very easy to get bogged down with all the different options and really how slow things can move. For example, you start to build links and a month and a half later you are not on the first page. If it’s your first project, it can make you want to give up.

That is why knowing the fundamentals is so important and can help you so much. You have to keep remembering what you are doing and what you are doing it for and you should be able to get through one more day.

Fundamental 1: A Website

This is a pretty easy fundamental to have. Of course you need a website to attract people and make them do what you want them to do. This could be to sign up for a list or to have them click on a link… whatever the case maybe.

It’s very easy to get your website up and with a little bit of training, you can be very proficient at it.

Fundamental 2: An Offer

You need an offer which is something to offer to your visitors. This could be anything again… an affiliate product, an actual product of just to sign up for a newsletter list.

A good example is the offer I just made to you to join my newsletter list. I told you that I have a free training for WordPress and a lot more great information. If you join my newsletter list then you can get free access to this info. That is an offer.

The way you give your offer is something you can test and optimize pretty easily. With some software, you can test different ways to make the offer and find one that does much better than anything else.

Here is When I Get Interested In Testing

I like to wait until I am consistently getting at least 100 visitors a day to the page then I will think about testing. You want your stats to be statistically meaningful.

You always want to work really hard on getting traffic which brings us to the last fundamental.

Fundamental 3: Traffic

Getting traffic to your website is vital. When I build a website, I typically will not worry too much about making different things their best until I get the traffic. Once I bust my booty to get the traffic and I see what the most popular pieces of content are, I will then rework those pieces of content to be better.

When it comes to getting traffic, there are all sorts of things you can do. You can build links for some SEO traffic, use paid traffic, use YouTube, podcasting, and so much more.

You can even go offline with your traffic generation. Using post cards or little ads in magazines or newspapers is a great way to get traffic to your site. In fact it can be one way that has very little direct competition.

Now Remember What You Are Working For

Now all you have to do is remember what income level you are working for. Always remember that once you hit it, you can change it and make it bigger. But have an income level to hit.

Always remember this and have a life that you want to chase. This stuff works to help you get the things finish daily that you need to do.

Affiliate marketing is really general because there are so many affiliate marketing programs and things to promote, it can make your head spin. It’s actually a natural psychological truth that the more options you are presented with, the less likely you are able to actually make a decision.

Here’s strategy one… pick something you at least know about.

It really helps to have a good knowledge about what you are talking about. Keep in mind that this can be a business to business product and not necessarily a business to consumer product.

Most people getting started only think of a few markets when there are really a bunch you can get involved in.

So take a serious look at what you do and what you like. With a close enough look, you will find something.

Here is strategy two… Don’t promote affiliate products on your site.

You might be thinking to yourself that this is really crazy, but it can work really well. I am actually testing a few sites like this now. There is not a single affiliate product on the site and everything revolves around getting the visitors on the newsletter list.

Then once on the list, you can build a relationship and promote products. This opens up a slew of different strategies. Keep in mind that email marketing is a completely different animal.

It’s funny, you would think that it would be pretty easy, but I have found it to be much more difficult. However it can be very profitable.

Here is strategy three… Only work on three sites at a time.

This is probably more personal preference than anything, but I find that any more sites than that and it’s nearly impossible to build links.

You will drive yourself crazy building links for more than that and building enough to actually get ranked is really hard to do. I think as you begin to see success you can outsource, but that is something I don’t really know too much about yet.

Just think about this… the more projects you have going, the slower it will take to fail or succeed.

Wow when I think back to when I first got started, I immediately think of all the time spend going from one business to the next. From one course to the next, from one guru to the next.

I know it’s hard and you’ve heard it before, but if you can stick to one course and see it through until you’re earning money, you will be so much better off. Plus you’ll save huge amounts of money.

With that said, what is the best Internet marketing course to get your started that will also meet these two conditions:

That is why so few people succeed because a very small percentage of people want to work that hard. It’s a simple fact.

But if you work hard and you do it consistently, you will succeed and it will be awesome.

Looking back now, I see this has a great lesson learned. But at the time, both of these investments killed me and really hurt me financially. I want to share this story with you because there are some important lessons in it.

Being A Victim of Fraud Through Mentorship

The first time this happened to me, I met a guy in West Virginia. I wish I could remember his name (I think his first name was Gary), but I have not seen him around in a long time. I am sure he got revealed for the absolute snake he was.

Here’s what happened to me.

He was going to help me with an affiliate website and building a list. Our main source of traffic was SEO. And this was supposed to be completely one-on-one.

I was really new at the time and this all sounded great. I thought with his help I could shortcut the learning curve and succeed faster.

I PayPaled him just over $5,000. After that he talked with me twice and then just stopped answering his phone and email. I should have gone to PayPal, but I was clueless at the time.

I did see a lawyer, but he told me that it’s not worth it unless it was over $10,000 as the costs would be about the same as what was stolen.

I was pissed, but I was still determined to succeed.

Being A Victim of A Popular Guru

A popular guru Kevin Wilke of Nitro Marketing made a course for beginners to help them get their businesses up and running.

To his credit, the course was great and really helpful (. However, being young and naive, I was sold on the super expensive $9,000 personal one-on-one mentoring that goes with the course.

Again I was determined to succeed so I thought what the hell. After all this was through a bigger company so they had to be legit.

Wrong!

It started out great with my guy Mark. They hired a consulting company to do the one-on-one mentoring. That was problem number one… these guys didn’t have businesses themselves. They were employees so they just said what was in the book.

My guy, Mark, missed a few meetings and we spent a lot of time on concept. I think the program was 3 months long, maybe 4… but either way, we never got to marketing. I had no real issue getting a website up.

I wanted help on the typical things that most beginners want help with… traffic generation.

So when our time when up, they just dropped me like a sack of $@^#.

I never heard from them again and all that after putting in $9,000.

So What Are The Lessons?

Lesson 1: You Are Your Own Best Teacher

Get dirty. Just get in there and start doing things. You are going to waist money making stupid mistakes and there is always going to be a learning curve. Get into it as fast as possible and make the errors… you will never learn more.

Lesson 2: No Mentor Can Weave Magic

I thought that the mentor would mean automatic success. No mentor can do that for you. It’s always going to come down to you and the actions you take.

No matter what you hear out there, it takes hard work to be successful. But that hard work is a ton of fun because seeing results from your actions is amazing.

Lesson 3: It Takes Time

It still took me about a year and a half of making my own dumb errors before I really started to make consistent money.

Realize that it will take time. And realistically, I am talking about 4 to 6 months of hard work to build a solid income. When you really think about that, that is not long at all.

You don’t sleep until that is finished.

Affiliate Marketing Tip 2: Choose a plan and stay the course

The one thing about the affiliate marketing business is the fact that there is always a shiny new toy or technique that leads to riches.

The guys that make the real money using affiliate marketing are actually boring. They just studied their method to death so they know it like the back of their hand. Then they simple worked that plan daily.

When you switch to a new plan, you immediately lose. And that is why there is no such thing as easy online money.

Affiliate Marketing Tip 3: Build An Asset

The downfall of affiliate marketing is actually a few things.

• You only make a percentage (sometimes small percentage of the sale)
• You don’t build a list of customers

A list of paying customers is incredibly powerful because when you treat customers well, they really do come back again and again to buy.

So as an affiliate, you have to build a list. This list and the data you get form them is your asset. You can easily find what they want and then you can be the one to provide it to them.

Just keep in mind that being a product owner increases the responsibility and adds customer support.

Even if you never build your own product, having that list of people to email or write to on Facebook will let you market other affiliate products. That is how you can get a surge in income when you really need it.

Affiliate Marketing Tip 4: Diversify and Build More

When you are getting started, you have to build a lot of campaigns or sites. Not every site will work so the more you can pump out, the faster you will find the ones that do work.

This is what really stops people from getting going in the first place. The idea of doing all that work to have nothing workout is a horrible prospect. But think about it on the flip side… if you never try anything, you will never see that money you are going for and your business will not grow.

So build sites, start campaigns, track what happens and make changes according to those statistics.

Affiliate Marketing Tip 5: Test Like Crazy

There will be many sites that may never perform for you so you have to keep launching them. The biggest issue that I face is getting enough traffic to really test the site. But you should know pretty quickly if it’s worth your time.

So make sure you are always building new sites around interesting niches and products. While it has not happened to me yet, you may build a site and it will blow up quickly. Then you can really concentrate on that.

Affiliate Marketing Tip 6: Concentrate on the Winners

I highly suggest that after you have been at this for awhile, you concentrate on the winners and sell the smaller profiting sites.

This is how you can really grow your income. The sites that are making the most money now can probably be grown even bigger by expanding them and offering more. It’s not uncommon to triple your income pretty quickly if you do this.

Don’t waste time a site that may only make $1,000 a month when you can grow your $5,000 dollar a month site into a $10,000+ a month site much faster.

How Do You Make Real Money Online

I know I am keeping this article really high level, but just know that you can make a real business completely on the Internet. So give that fact, how do you do it?

Here are the high level steps you need to take. Don’t discount them because they are high level… following this will really help you succeed.

Step 1: Decide what type of business you want to start

You have to decide where you want to go. It can be affiliate marketing, creating a store where you sell physical products, you can sell your own information products, you can do some type of consulting… and the list goes on and on.

Step 2: Commit to that business model

I made this it’s own step because it’s so important. When you decide which business model you want to go with, you have to commit to it 100%. You have to then become the absolute expert at it because that is how you will succeed.

Step 3: Decide on your traffic source

Being new to creating a business, I suggest you decide on a traffic source and then start to master that. Do not get discouraged and stray from it… stay the course and master that source of traffic.

If you’re new and you don’t have money to invest in paid traffic then completely ignore it for now. Go with SEO and master building links and getting free traffic.

Step 4: Decide on a system to follow

Now you can look at which systems match what everything you have decided to this point. Even though most of these income systems and products may sound sensational, there are many really solid ones.

The Ugly Truth

Easy money online really doesn’t exist. No matter how many sales letters you read that say you can make fifty thousand dollars with just one click of the mouse, it won’t happen like that.

It takes hard work, just like any other business to earn money online. However, once you pay your education and experience dues, it becomes easier and easier. As you start to make more money, you have more to invest and you can make more faster.

I really love affiliate marketing because once you get a good portfolio of sites that are earning you money, it’s more or less completely passive income. That frees you up to invest in other methods for good diversification.

There are many ways you do affiliate marketing using video, seo, social marketing, paid advertising, and many other very creative ways.

If you work hard and consistent, you can be earning money in 30 days easily. By the end of six months if you really push yourself and learn, you can be earning a full time income. But it does take work.

Consulting

You have probably see this all over the Internet, consulting with other businesses to help them with their Internet marketing. If you know the basics of seo, web design, Facebook advertising, you really can help local small businesses.

The hardest part of running this type of business is marketing yourself. It takes longer because you have to earn trust and build up a portfolio with some results as well. You can make pretty good money doing this but for me at least, it’s not he easy way to make money online.

You can get a great couse called SEM (Search Engine Marketing Blueprint) it’s part of The IM Advantage. There are a lot of people on the forum too that run consulting businesses. Yet another great reason to join this site… it’s beyond worth it.

Sell Your Own Products

This is a great way to make easy money online. You get to do something you love and know a lot about… providing you have that. The best thing about selling your own products is you tend to want to work harder to get it successful. You also get to have affiliates help you make sales.

I would caution you to not start selling products about making money if you have never made money on the Internet. These days that type of stuff really doesn’t fly too much. Even some of the early make money gurus have never sold anything but make money information… it’s really sad.

But making your own product is eventually a place you will want to be.

Drop ship Programs

This is a favorite of mine, but it does take some hard work too. This is typically setting up a store selling some physical products. You create a drop ship relationship with a manufacturer and sell their stuff.

You don’t have to worry about inventory, you just shuffle the orders to them and keep the difference as your profit. It works really well and it’s perfect for a beginner. I have build a five figure monthly business in less than six weeks doing this for of business.

That Is Just The Beginning

This is really just the beginning. There are so many ways to make money and tap into veins of profit on the Internet. Just wake up to the fact that easy money online does not exist in a legit way.

You can always cheat people out of money, but that is criminal and you will get in trouble, and even that is not easy money online. I have known people who make thousands and thousand over two days online, but had more than that taken away.

It’s an affiliate network for information products and software. But it’s also a payment processor that you can use to sell your own information products and software products as well.

It’s completely trustworthy with your payments. I have been using Clickbank for some time and they are never late on a check and they have great stats.

I want to cover using Clickbank if you’re an affiliate first since that is what you are most likely going to get into first.

The best thing about Clickbank is their marketplace for affiliate products. There are thousands of them and many of them are really great products with proven sales processes. That let’s you know with confidence that if you can get the right traffic to the sales page, it will convert for you.

One of the problems that a lot of new affiliate marketers have is choosing which product to promote. With so many to choose from it can get confusing, not to mention you don’t want to spend a ton of time working on one to not have good luck with it.

But remember, when you learn to make the right type of affiliate website, you can very easily change out the product and test different ones to find the one that will work the best.

However, there are also some great services to help you better analyze products so you can promote the best one.

Personally, I have three products in the Clickbank marketplace and they are doing really good and getting better as we test and get more affiliates.

What I love about using Clickbank as a merchant provider is you don’t have to have your everything on your own. It’s really complex to get started with setting up your own shopping cart.

Here is what you need to actually set this up correctly…

• A merchant account
• A payment gateway account
• A shopping cart
• An SSL certificate
• A website that can handle the shopping cart

It’s really a lot and getting a merchant account is not always easy. You have to go through a pretty big process. I’ve had mine now for about 4 years and I still use Clickbank because it makes it much easier and cheaper too.

Your customers will appreciate it too because they know they will be really safe with their financial information.

Finally, Clickbank comes with a huge affiliate army that you can tap into to help sell your product. This is the biggest benefit as if you can get a lot of affiliates selling you products, you can sit back and just collect the money.
